本研究では、無子超高齢社会という共通項をもつ日本、台湾および中国の比較をつうじて、無子超高齢社会に特有の紛争とその解決システムの特質ならびにその背景にある社会的な構造の異同を明らかにすることを目指す。中国ではすでに高齢者紛争に特化した解決システムが起動していることから、本研究ではその実態の把握と分析を中心軸に置きつつ、同じ背景を持ちつつそれとは温度差がある台湾と日本とを比較することによって、無子超高齢社会に特有の紛争とは何か、その解決システムにはいかなる特質があるのか、その背景にはいかなる社会構造の特徴があるのかの解明に取り組む。その上で、無子超高齢社会の紛争解決システムのみならず、紛争解決と法、ひいては法のあり方および無子超高齢社会の到来にともなうこれらの変化も析出することがきればと考える。本年度も昨年度に引き続き、現有資料の精査とその補強に重点をおいて取り組んだ。具体的には以下のとおりである。（１）研究代表者がこれまでに個人で収集してきた資料の読解および整理を行った。（２）ＣＮＫＩなどの有料データベースやインターネットを利用して、新たな資料の網羅的収集につとめた。なお、その際には中国・台湾在住の研究協力員のサポートを得た。（３）台湾においてフィールド調査を実施した。台湾の弁護士事務所が超高齢社会の到来をにらんだ研究班を発足させ、すでに一定の成果報告を公表していることが判明した。同研究班の責任者が研究代表者の所属大學の卒業生であることから、成果の共有と次年度以降の台湾における現地調査および共同研究の実施を確約することができた。なお、当初予定していた中国でのフィールドワークならびに現地での資料収集は、新型コロナウイルスの全世界的な感染拡大にともなう所属機関からの海外渡航禁止および自粛要請により、実施を見送らざるを得なかった。
