项目摘要

当該年度は、社会的イノベーション、「難民危機」、過激主義、重国籍の観点から国際移民による超多様性と市民権再編の研究を進めてきたけれども、最も大きな発見があったのは過激主義である。テロリズムなどの暴力行為は、社会統合への物理的損失のみならず象徴的損失をも引き起こす。2001年の合衆国同時多発テロ事件以降に顕著になったのが、イスラム過激主義である。イスラム過激主義はカリフ制とイスラム法 (Sharia) を社会に確立するというイデオロギーを基盤としている。そして2015年、西ヨーロッパがイスラム過激主義の舞台となった。このような経緯の中で、なぜイスラム過激主義による暴力行為が生じるのかという疑問が一般的にも学術的にも湧き起こってきたのである。イスラム過激主義を説明する図式として、まず思いつくのは目的合理的な因果関係であろう。Max Weberは暴力を近代社会への変動のなかで捉えた。その結果、近代社会のおいて暴力は目的のための手段と捉えられるようになる。Charles Tillyはテロリズムを「資源を引き出し権力を増大させる政治的戦略」と捉えた。このような見解を、「目的合理的パラダイム」と呼んでおこう。ところが、イスラム過激主義は目的合理的な図式では捉えきれない部分を持っている。カリフ制やイスラム法に基づく国家・社会のヨーロッパにおける創設は「合理的目的」には見えない。また自爆テロを、合理的な目的のための手段と見なすことも難しい。ここで、Emile Durkheimの見解が思い出させる。これを「狂信的パラダイム」と呼んでおこう。目的合理的パラダイムか狂信的パラダイムのいずれかに押し込めるだけでは、イスラム過激主義を理解することはできないだろう。行為者が過激主義に至るメカニズムを、それを取り巻く制度の観点を踏まえて追尾し、両者を関係づけることが求められるであろう。
