本研究は、重度知的障害者の受け入れに先駆的実践を行う高齢者施設の協力を得て次の3点に焦点化し研究を進めている。すなわち、①重度知的障害者の入所受け入れに取り組む高齢者施設が地域の中でどのような役割を期待され、また、障害者支援施設や関連組織とどのような関係性を築いていたのか、そして、重度知的障害者の入所受け入れを積極的に検討するきっかけとなった内発的動機や要請された役割期待について。②重度知的障害者の入所受け入れの背景を踏まえながら、組織内でどのような検討がされたのか、受け入れへの条件整備、受け入れに向かう組織合意形成の障壁となった問題、管理者や職員集団が抱える葛藤、合意形成への取り組みが組織全体にもたらした影響や成果について。③重度知的障害者の入所受け入れに向かう合意プロセスと合意の成立要件についてである。研究初年度からこれまで、コロナ感染症対策の影響で研究自体が予定通りに進んでいないが、国立重度知的障害者総合施設のぞみの園の地域移行事例（約170事例中高齢者施設への移行は5事例）のうち、調査に同意を得ることができた特別養護老人ホーム3施設（静岡県伊豆の国市、群馬県北群馬郡、佐賀県多久市）で上記①～③に焦点化したインタビュー調査を実施することができた。コロナ感染予防対策から、調査のための越境が制限され、既に同意を得ている1施設（広島県三原市）については調査保留となっており、2023年度に実施したいと考えている。2022年度については、長野県中野市にある障害者支援施設を訪問し、入所施設の縮小と閉鎖に向かう合意形成のプロセスについて聞き取り調査を行った。高齢知的障害者の施設移行の事例ではないが、組織内合意プロセスの形成過程を研究する上で有意義な調査であった。
