本研究の目的は、ソーシャルネットワーキングサービス（以降、SNS）によってネガティブなボディイメージを低め、ポジティブなボディイメージ高める介入方法の開発である。最終的には、多くの若い女性が利用するInstagramの画像によるボディイメージに対する介入方法を開発し、その効果検証を行うことを目指している。ボディイメージは女性のメンタルヘルスへの影響が大きいことが指摘されており、ネガティブなボディイメージの改善方法の開発は女性の心理的問題の発生や深刻化の予防への貢献が期待できる。初年度の令和2年度は、SNSのうち、既存のボディイメージと関連するダイエット方法やフィットネスに関連するInstagram上の画像を収集し、その分類に着手した。具体的には、ネガティブなボディイメージに関連するアカウントにULされた画像のカテゴリー化である。2年目の令和3年度は、令和2年度に研究代表者が単独で行った分類作業の結果について、精緻化を目的に研究分担者とともに検討を重ねた。併せて、高校生男女1,500名および大学生男女1,000名を対象にwebによるアンケート調査を実施した。目的は前述した分類結果の妥当性の確認である。また高校生と大学生、さらに男女を対象とすることで、SNS利用とボディイメージとの関連における発達的な変化や性差を検討した。令和4年度は、令和3年度に実施した高校生男女・大学生男女を対象とした調査の結果を分析し、発信に向けまとめる作業を行った。加えて、新型コロナウイルス感染拡大以降、急速に利用者数を伸ばしているSNSであるTikTokの利用とボディイメージの関連について、大学生を対象とした調査の準備を行った。実査は2023年9月の予定である。なお、令和5年度は、これまでの研究結果をまとめ、成果を発信することを中心に行う。
