本研究の目的は、軍記物語と教訓書の関わりから見出せる16世紀の社会がもたらした理想や教訓を基軸に、それらが以降の中近世～近代の社会に対して、どのように影響を与え続け、利用され、あるいは変化・展開していったのかを解明することである。本年度は、特に中世末期以降における軍記物語の改作の状況を捉えることを主軸とし、資料収集・調査を重点に置いた。結果として、『保元物語』『平治物語』の諸本調査、『平家物語』や『承久記』の必要文献・先行研究の収集および諸本調査、『曾我物語』の流布本の内容把握、絵画資料による『平治物語』の近世以降における受容状況の調査を行うことが出来、これらの作業を通して、近世や近代における物語の影響を調べていく手掛かりも掴めた。その例の一つとして、軍記物語の古典籍調査を行う中で、『平治物語』を絵巻化した『平治物語絵巻』が近世・近代まで長く受容されていたことについて、模写者の検証もしつつ実態を掴めた点が挙げられる。その詳しい調査結果については、本年度論文化した（「『平治物語絵巻』の模本・諸本に関する調査報告」（「古典遺産69」2020・3））。特に、後代において絵巻の模本を制作する中で、ただ手本通りに絵を真似るだけではなく、物語世界に立ち返る姿も確認出来たことは大きい。中近世～近代の軍記物語の受容の問題を考える際に、例えばこうした模写者が接していた文字資料と、視覚資料との交渉も改めて考えていく必要性があると言えよう。本年度を以てPDを途中辞退するため特に2年目・3年目に主に設定していた近世・近代の軍記物語の受容状況の把握は、本年度の調査を通して見えてきた視点を活用して今後の研究に繋げていく。
