本研究は、歴史上起きたいくさを題材とする軍記物語の代表的な四作品（『保元物語』『平治物語』『平家物語』『承久記』）の流布の過程の違いを、教訓・教育との関わり方を軸に検証していくものである。本年度は「西道智著『保元物語大全』『平治物語大全』翻刻（一）」（「古典遺産71」2022.8）を発行するに至った。以降も掲載は続けていく予定であり、次年度も公開の目途がついている。上記の各作品の流布の過程を検証する中で、古注釈書の存在は作品の享受を捉えるにあたり重要な資料の一つと考え、まず『保元物語大全』『平治物語大全』の翻刻に着手した。翻刻の連載初回においては諸本調査の結果も報告として掲載している。調査を重ねた結果、丹波篠山市教育委員会青山歴史村所蔵の本は分量が他本に比べ多く、形態も本来の形を有している可能性が高いため、翻刻の底本としている。その他の本についても、兵庫県立篠山鳳鳴高等学校所蔵の本は刷りの良い美本であり、また酒田市立図書館光丘文庫所蔵の本は書き入れも見られることから、他諸本の特性も詳細に捉えていくことで、作品の享受の実態もより明確に把握出来るのではないかと考えている。『保元物語大全』『平治物語大全』の著者である西道智という人物は他の軍記物語の注釈書も残しており、それらとの比較も行いつつ、資料の内部検証をした論文の成稿も進めている。また、各作品の読み込みや、他作品の注釈書の諸本調査も現在並行して行っている。
