项目摘要

本年度は、ネコとヒトの異種間コミュニケーションに関する実験を2つ行った。また、ネコが同居する他個体の名前を認識しているという論文が1報受理され、その他3報の執筆準備を行った。ネコが同居する他個体の名前を認識するという実験は、乳幼児の心理学実験でよく用いられる期待違反法で行われた。他個体の名前を再生した後、その他個体の顔、もしくは他の個体の顔写真をモニターに呈示した。その際のネコのモニターへの注視時間を測定した。その結果、他の個体の顔写真が呈示されたときに注視時間が伸びた。このような反応はネコカフェ個体では見られず、家庭飼育個体でのみみられた。このことから、家庭で飼育されているネコは他個体の名前と顔を一致させて認識していることが示唆された。ヒト家族の名前に関しても同様の調査を行った結果、飼育する期間が長いほど、同居する家族数が多いほど名前と不一致の写真を注視することがわかった。これらの結果から、ヒト家族がお互いを呼ぶ回数が多いほど、名前の認識も高まることが示唆された。これらの結果は、ネコが自らに話しかけられている時のみならず、ヒトの会話に注意を向け、何を指示しているのかを理解していることを示す。本論文はScientific Reports誌に掲載され、心理学分野で最も閲覧された論文となった。その他にも、ネコやイヌがコロナ禍において飼い主とのかかわり方が変化した中でかれらの行動にどのような変化があったのかに関する論文やネコの認知研究全般に関するレビュー論文の準備を行った。実験としては、ネコがマスクをつけたヒトの表情を読み取れるかの実験や、飼育期間に応じて愛着形成がみられるのかを調べる実験を行った。
