项目摘要

前年度に引き続き、沖縄県立図書館、沖縄県公文書館において移民に関する史資料や文学作品の収集を継続した。2020年10月に行われた東アジアと同時代日本語文学フォーラムでは、大城立裕「白い季節」と広池秋子「オンリー達」の比較を通じて、米軍占領下の公衆衛生対策が小説における空間編成といかに関わるかを考察した。立川のオンリーの貸間を舞台とした「オンリー達」は、「白い季節」が女性の身体を管理するコザ保健所の視点から描かれるのに対し、そうした法網から逃れる女性たちを描く。二作の比較は、基地の街の女性たちの表象を、沖縄／日本本土、男性作家／女性作家という比較軸とは異なり、女性の性の管理をめぐる対照的な視点からの分析を可能とする。報告では、新聞小説「白い季節」における詳細な特飲街の記述が、犯罪の温床として都市と女性身体を類似的に描写する現地医師の視線に重なることに加え、医師と米軍の売春女性を介した結託のみならず女性の管理において医師が米軍の法からの超越をも図る可能性を提示した。また「オンリー達」における「貸間」の表象が、女性の性労働を覆い隠しつつ金銭を生産する空間であると同時に、売春女性が法網を逃れ共生する場所として表れることを明らかにした。そして複数の売春女性の中で最も下層に位置する女性が、朝鮮戦争の軍事空間を捉えていることを指摘した。2021年2月に行われた琉球大学島嶼地域科学研究所主催学会ではハンセン病療養所愛楽園の機関誌に掲載された小説作品を複数取り上げ、愛楽園の空襲被害における療養所という閉鎖空間の表象や、小説を介した沖縄の女性運動との呼応の可能性について論じた。こうした国家の領土性に必ずしも規定されない占領空間として米軍基地の街や女性身体やハンセン病療養所に着目し、ナショナルアレゴリーに回収されない占領表象の分析を行った点で、本研究は従来の沖縄文学研究を進展させた。
