项目摘要

本研究は対象から型をとり、その複製を生み出す「型取り」という技法が造形史上果たした役割を、とりわけ19世紀フランスに注目しながら再検討するものである。新型コロナの流行により半年間、研究期間を延長することが可能となったが、その間、主に以下の二つ研究成果をあげることができた。まず前年度に引き続き、聖ヴァンサン・ド・ポールの聖遺物容器の研究を深め、内容を発展させたうえで論考を執筆した。とりわけこの聖人の伝記などの細部の読解をすすめ、また従来の聖遺物崇敬や墓碑彫刻のコンテクストなどを勘案しながら、二つの聖遺物容器の造形史上の意義を明らかにすることができた。本稿は学術誌において掲載されることが内定しており、今年度中の刊行が予定されている。次に19世紀フランスの彫刻家アレクサンドル・ファルギエールについての研究を進めた。海外での調査は実施することができなかったが、可能な限りでの国内出張や、オンライン上での一次資料の探索を行うことで、ファルギエール作品の美術史上の位置づけを検討していった。とりわけこの彫刻家の作品《タルチシオ》(1868)について、その造形的分析を行なった上で、当時この作品に対してなされた批評などの資料を体系的に分析した。これによって本作品を、ファルギエール自身の様式の問題だけでなく、19世紀当時のリアリズムというさらに大きな問題圏のなかに改めて位置づけ直すことができた。これらの成果については内容を総合したのち、近く学会発表を予定している。加えて、こうした60年代の造形から、ファルギエールの「型取り」を直接用いたとされる《踊り子》、《ディアナ》といった80年代の作品への変遷について検討すべく、目下、資料を収集し、分析を行なっている。19世紀におけるリアリズムを有した造形についてさらに新たな知見をもたらすべく、こうした考察を今後、論考としてまとめていきたい。
