本年度もCOVID-19の影響で外国に渡航することができなかったため、研究の進展は芳しくなかった。本年度は古期アイルランド語の動詞「行く」のパラダイムに現れる語根のアクチオンスアルトを印欧語族の観点から考察したほか、ロマンス諸語の一つであるスペイン語においてアスペクトをきっかけに補充が成立する事例を古期アイルランド語の補充と照らし合わせることを試みた。印欧祖語では動詞語根が持つアクチオンスアルトが現在語幹とアオリスト語幹の形態に反映される。現在語幹は継続的アクチオンスアルトを、アオリスト語幹は瞬間的アクチオンスアルトを表現する語幹である。継続的アクチオンスアルトを持つ語根は無標な現在語幹を、瞬間的なアクチオンスアルトを持つ語根は無標なアオリスト語幹を形成する。そして、アクチオンスアルトと対応しない語幹が形成される際は、語根に接辞の付加や重複などの改編が施された有標な語幹が現れる。古期アイルランド語の動詞「行く」において、印欧祖語の語根のアクチオンスアルトと語幹の有標性が対応しているのは過去語幹のみであった。また、印欧祖語にない未来時制にみられる補充など未解決の問題が残されている。そして、スペイン語では、ir「行く」の単純過去語幹はコピュラ動詞serと同形のfu-をとり、これはラテン語のコピュラ動詞の完了語幹に遡る。つまり、コピュラ動詞の語形が動詞「行く」に拡張しており、動詞「行く」に視点を移せば時制による補充を起こしたことになる。コピュラ動詞が拡張したことについては、英語のhave been to ~というイディオムに通じるところがある。こうした事例を援用したいものの、在証されていないケルト祖語や印欧祖語のアスペクト、アクチオンスアルトといった意味的な側面を、反証可能性を担保しながら考察することは現状困難を極めている。
