项目摘要

本研究の目的は、①「1935年中国人キリスト者一斉検挙に関する研究」②「『満洲国』学制の完成とキリスト教学校法人化問題に関する研究」③「『満洲国』における神社参拝問題」④「満洲基督教会設立について」の４つのテーマに即して「満洲国」における宗教統制、宗教利用がどのように行われたのかを考察することである。これらの研究に必須のミッション・アーカイブは、スコットランド国立図書館に所蔵されており、それらはいまだにデジタル化されていない。そのためエジンバラに渡航する必要があるが、昨年度はコロナ禍がまだ収束していなかったため、海外調査は断念せざるを得なかった。いっぽうで、すでに収集しておりながら読み込みが不充分であった資料を読み進めながら、それぞれのテーマに関しノートを作成した。とはいえ個々のテーマをタイトルに掲げた論文を執筆するには至らなかった。ただ、現在執筆中の著作の1920年代の反帝国主義運動を考察する章において本研究のうち④の研究を部分的に生かすことができた。その概要は、1920年代にキリスト教会の自立運動と宣教師が享受してきた不平等条約の特権の廃棄を求める運動が本格化する中で、満洲における教会は他の地域の教会と異なり、宣教師と中国人信徒とが対等な関係を構築し相互理解を深めていたために、両者の不毛な対立が生じず、不平等条約特権に対する宣教師の自省的な認識が早い段階から見られた、というものである。両者はこの信頼関係をもとに「満洲国」成立後強まる統制をも乗り越えようとしたが、太平洋戦争勃発後日本人牧師の介入によって両者の関係に楔が打ち込まれ、「満洲基督教会」が成立することになる。研究最終年度の2023年度は、研究を総括すべく各テーマのいずれかを論文に結実させたい。
