项目摘要

本課題の中心的な問いは、ゲノム編集技術の「農と食」と「医療」への応用の過程という二つの文脈において、専門家が一般市民が抱く先端科学技術への不安感や不信感をどのように解消しようとしているかを明らかにすることである。特に、科学者による意味付け、行為、言説戦略に着目して、この問いへの答えを明らかにしようとしている。社会学におけるこれまでの信頼研究は「専門家システムへの信頼」に着目し、システムへの信頼の欠如が市民の不安感や不信感に作用するという見方で社会を捉えようとしてきた。しかしながら、現代社会の特徴として専門家システムへの信頼の欠如が恒常的に起きているということを考慮すると、市民の不安感や不信感を解消するために現場で何が行われているのかという視点から社会を捉えなおすことが重要となる。このような問題意識を背景として、2022年度もインタビュー調査、政策文書の言説分析と新聞記事の内容分析の３つの方法でデータの収集と分析を行った。2022年度までの研究から、以下の点が明らかになった。１）言説戦略における「想定される他者」は、農と食の領域では科学技術の無関心層である。一方で医療の領域では、患者団体などを想定した語りが先鋭化し、特に政策議論では関連する団体や患者自身の議論への参加の方策についても論点として取り上げられている。２）農と食においては、ゲノム編集技術の社会受容を得ることにより不安や不信が解消されるという考え方が、科学者や事業者の間で共有されているが、医療においては、患者の不安や不信の解消は、倫理的な観点から考えるべきであると捉えられている。３）農と食においては、市民が抱く不安感や不信感を念頭におきながらも、ゲノム編集技術の社会実装を目指すという市場的な目標が優先されているが、医療の領域においては、市場的な目標よりも倫理的な観点が優先されるべきであるという考え方も語られている。
