项目摘要

本研究は、認知言語学の観点から、日英語の様々な構文を取り上げ、複数の日英語の小説とその翻訳をベースにした日英語のパラレルコーパスを用いて、言語間あるいは表現間の相違点や多様性を浮き彫りにするだけでなく、同一事態を表す日英語の構文表現の有無や差異を、言語間の認知類型・事態把握の差異と関連づけて、事態把握による類型化の研究にさらなる実証的な裏付けを与えようとするものである。分析対象とする表現のうち、プロトタイプ的な役割を果たしている一定の表現は英語の大規模コーパスや日本語のコーパス、Web上の検索エンジンなどからもその用例を抽出できるが、頻度が少なく、周辺的な表現に関しては、コンテクストを踏まえて検討する必要もあり、それは大規模コーパスからのデータでは捉えにくい部分である。そのため、日英語の小説とその翻訳をベースにした日英語のパラレルコーパスを作ることは、コンテクストも踏まえた日英語表現の比較を行うために大変有用であると考える。本研究の４年目にあたる2022年度は、これまでにデータ入力が完了している作品分の日英語のパラレルコーパスや大規模コーパス等からの収集データをもとに、日英語の特徴を反映した表現を対照させて、言語間あるいは表現間の相違点や多様性について、認知主体の事態把握の仕方と関連づけた認知言語学的観点から分析を進めた。その成果の一部を現在論文の形にまとめている。日英語の特徴を反映した語彙レベルや文レベルの表現の違いだけでなく、談話レベルで比較し、精緻な分析を行うためには、もう少しパラレルコーパスのデータが必要であると感じ、日本語短編小説５作品（とその英語翻訳）を追加して、パラレルコーパス作成にもあたった。
