本研究は、近世前期における奈良町北部の実態を東大寺大仏再建事業との関連でとらえなおすことで、現在の奈良の観光・行政の中心域である奈良町北部の成立過程を解明するための基礎資料を整備することを目的とする。令和４年度は以下の研究を行った。（１）『大仏殿再建記』の調査および地名・人名データベースの構築：本研究の中心史料である『大仏殿再建記』から地名・人名データを抽出しつつ、写真帳による校正をすすめ、Excelへの入力作業を終了した。（２）東大寺大仏殿大虹梁の調査：令和３年度に収集した大仏殿大虹梁に関する諸資料をもとに東大寺大仏殿の大虹梁の調査を行い、元禄時代に創建された大仏殿の大虹梁の実態を確認した。（３）奈良町北部の水系の調査：天理図書館蔵旧保井文庫奈良町絵図などをもとに作成を開始した奈良町の水系・橋のトレース図をもとに、奈良町北部の水系の現地調査を行い、写真・位置情報等の資料を収集しつつ、トレース図の完成度を高めた。収集した資料類は、Google Earthで閲覧できるようデータ整理をすすめた。奈良町の行政の中心域であった奈良町奉行所周辺の水系については、関連遺跡の調査・研究をすすめつつ、奈良女子大学学術情報センターにて明治時代を中心とした奈良女子高等師範学校の図面類の調査を行い、実態解明をすすめた。また、『庁中漫録』に加えて『奈良晒』・『奈良坊目拙解』からも奈良町の橋に関する資料を収集して橋の管理のあり方や機能を確認した。（４）研究成果の発表：東大寺瓦を含む奈良女子大学構内遺跡に関する再調査の成果を連続研究会で発表した。また、連続研究会や大仏殿再建記研究会において度々報告されていた、江戸期東大寺大仏殿再建事業と島津家に関する論考が『南都仏教』に掲載された。

This study aims to clarify the basic data on the process of establishment of the northern part of Nara Town in the early modern era and the relationship between the reconstruction of Todaiji and the central administrative area of Nara. (4) Report of research results: Report of the results of the re-investigation on the ruins of Todaiji Ota and Nara Women's University A report on the reconstruction of Todaiji Temple and Shimadzu House was published by the "Nandu Temple" Research Association and the "Otodaiji Reconstruction Research Association."
