项目摘要

本研究は、中世仏教成立期に編纂された密教の百科辞典と位置づけられている『覚禅鈔』の人名及び観音菩薩と他神仏の垂迹関係を示す史料のデータベースを作成することで、『覚禅鈔』の歴史史料的活用の利便性を高めつつ、中世成立期の宗教の政治的機能を考察することを目的とする。初年度にあたる本年度は、本研究の基礎的作業にあたる1『大正新脩大蔵経』(以下『大正蔵』と略記)所牧『覚禅鈔』の史料蒐集・校訂とデータベース作成、2『大正蔵』収録外の『覚禅鈔』の情報収集・調査を行う計画をたてた。1 については、申請者の所属する覚禅鈔研究会での検討結果をもとに、「薬師法」・「尊星王法」など十数巻の『大正蔵』所牧『覚禅鈔』の人名・観音菩薩の垂迹関係の史料のデータを抽出し、Excelデータ化した。データ入力にあたっては『大正蔵』所牧『覚禅鈔』の大部分が底本となっている勧修寺本の写真帳による校訂を行い、データの精度を高めた。データのうち、特定しにくい人名の要検討事案を蓄積し、覚禅鈔研究会で検討する準備も進めた。また、作業を進める中で、『覚禅鈔』には歴史的事件を示す史料が多くみられ、政治史的な利用価値も極めて高いことが改めて明確になったため、年号索引の作成もあわせて行った。2 については、『覚禅鈔』に関する研究史を整理しつつ『覚禅鈔』諸本の現存状況を確認することで調査活動の基本的計画を立案し、写真帳を多く蒐集する東京大学史料編纂所を中心に金沢文庫本などを対象とした情報収集・調査活動を行った。
