1年目の令和元年度は、研究実施計画に従い、1960年代の自民党政権における警備・公安警察の活動について分析した。また、安保闘争から1970年安保改定に至る政府首脳と警察の情勢認識について分析した。第一に、相次ぐデモとテロによって治安情勢が緊迫化する1960年代初頭には、自民党、社会党、民社党が政治的暴力行為防止法案などの治安立法を国会に提出した。第二に、1960年代の東京都政における治安問題について資料調査を行った。第三に、池田・佐藤内閣期における警察の情勢認識について、旧警察庁文書を中心に検討を行った。2年目の令和二年度は、前年度に引き続き、1960～1970年代の治安情勢をめぐる政治過程を検討した。警察庁警備局編纂の『焦点』の内容を精査し、過激化する学生運動に対する警察内部の情勢認識を検討した。加えて、内閣調査室（内調）の『焦点』『展望』を調査し、国内治安に関する政権の情勢認識について検討した。また、公安調査庁の内部資料を調査した結果、1960年代にかけて、公安調査庁は左翼運動に加えて右翼運動への警戒を増したものの、テロを未然に防ぐには至らなかったことが読み取れた。3年目の令和三年度は、旧警察庁文書をもとに、暴力犯罪が課題として認識され、1960年代に政治的暴力行為防止法案が起草される過程を整理した。また、岸・池田政権が実施した世論調査をもとに、政治的暴力に対する国民世論の動向を分析した。また、公安調査庁編『内外情勢の回顧と展望』をもとに、1960～1970年代の治安情勢認識を整理した。併せて、治安対策に関する社会党、民社党、共産党の資料を収集し、論文投稿を準備した。4年目の令和四年度は、これまでの調査を継続し、研究を論文「池田勇人内閣期の政治と暴力」としてまとめ、小宮京・伏見岳人・五百旗頭薫編『自民党政権の内政と外交』（ミネルヴァ書房、2023）を刊行した。
