项目摘要

2022年度では、カイツルの政治指導の時代的な制約とオーストリア政治の変容後への影響を解明して本研究の射程を確定するために、カイツルの政治上の同士であるとともに彼の死後に事実上の後継者となったカレル・クラマーシュ（初代チェコスロヴァキア首相）の政治指導について検討した。クラマーシュの政治指導は、カイツルが活躍した19世紀末のオーストリア政治の文脈では有効であった、卓越した能力や博識と政府とのコネクションに依拠しつつ、ネイションの代表をアピールするものであった。しかし、20世紀初頭に大衆政党が議会に進出してくると、党内外での交渉と調整に秀でた政治家が重要な役割を果たすようになった。もしくは、周知のとおり、カリスマに依拠したリーダーシップが期待された。しかし、クラマーシュは、前者については不得手であり、後者については自らの失策によりカリスマとしての源泉を喪失してしまった。それゆえ、クラマーシュの政治指導は戦間期において「時代遅れ」となり、それゆえに彼の影響力は限定されることとなった。そのような時代を迎える前に死去したカイツルは、その憂き目にあわなかったとはいえ、演説も必ずしもうまくなかったことに示されるようにカリスマ的な指導者でもなかった。昨年度に指摘した党務を不得手とすることに加えて、この点においても、彼の政治指導は時代的に制約されていたのであった。昨年度と今年度の研究成果の一部を学会にて報告した。また、本年度は3年ぶりにプラハにおける資料収集を実施して、研究に必要な当時の新聞を調査を実施した。なお、本年度は研究成果の社会への還元の一環として、ハプスブルク君主国と同じくマルチ・ナショナルな国家であったユーゴスラヴィア史に関する基本書の紹介を行った。
