2022年度においては、研究計画の見直しを行いつつ、田中角栄政権期の米軍基地問題についての資料調査および資料の読解を実施した。また、立命館大学で開催された政治学研究会（2022年7月28日）において、「田中角栄政権と米軍基地問題」と題する研究報告を行った。そこでは、田中政権期に日本本土における米軍基地の「危険性」が低減する一方、田中政権が米軍基地の運用という点では「対米配慮」を優先させていたことなどを指摘した。2022年度における最も重要な進展は、これまでの資料調査や、研究会等での他の研究者との意見交換などを踏まえて、1972年に飛鳥田一雄横浜市長が、相模補給廠から横浜のノースピアに向かう米軍戦車の輸送を、車両制限令を盾にとり、横浜市の権限を活用して阻止した、いわゆる「戦車輸送拒否事件」に焦点を当てた論文の執筆に着手したことである。その論文は、実証研究が進んでいない、戦車輸送拒否事件における飛鳥田市長の思想と行動を明らかにし、米軍基地問題史における同事件の意義を検討することをめざすものである。戦車輸送拒否事件における飛鳥田の思想と行動を明らかにするために、まず、同事件に関する朝日新聞、読売新聞、毎日新聞の記事や、『世界』など当時の雑誌の記事を網羅的に収集した。この作業で、戦車輸送拒否事件の事実経過や、飛鳥田の当時の発言および行動を把握することができた。さらに、『飛鳥田一雄回顧録』（朝日新聞社、1987年）や、飛鳥田の側近であった鳴海正泰の『自治体改革のあゆみ』（公人社、2003年）など、当事者の回想も収集し、分析を行った。それによって、当時の飛鳥田の言動の背景にある、彼の思想を浮かび上がらせることが可能となった。なお、資料の収集・整理では、アルバイトを雇用し、作業の効率化をはかった。
