4年目（2022年度）は、新型コロナウイルス感染も収束し始め、海外での学会報告・現地調査を1件実施することができた。国内調査も、地理的に範囲を広げた。文献調査や資料収集を進めると共に、過去に収集した調査データの整理・分析を進めた。オンライン開催の学会、研究会、シンポジウムも多く、効率的に最新の研究動向を把握することができた。2022年度に取り組んだテーマは以下の通りである。第1に、韓国で開催された国際学会に対面参加し、研究報告をした。併せて現地調査を行った。今後も韓国での調査研究を実施する予定であり、その予備的調査として十分なデータを得た。第2に、千葉における南・西南アジア系移民に関する調査である。千葉、山武、四街道、佐倉、市川、木更津を訪問調査した。このテーマの情報収集は、本務校の共同研究組織の活動や教育実践とも連動している。またJICAとの研究協力も進めた。さらに年度中盤には、他の研究委託を受けることも決まった。第3に、南アジア系移民を中心とするイスラームの宗教活動に関する調査研究である。千葉以外では、6月に愛知、7月に大阪・兵庫、3月に北海道、栃木のモスクを訪問調査した。現地調査の一部は、在日ムスリムの保健医療に関する共同研究チームへの参加であった。関連する研究会やシンポジウムにも参加し、有益な情報を得た。第4に、中国系移民の集住地域に関する調査である。9月に横浜中華街を学生と共に訪問調査した。移民の集積／分散に関する比較研究と位置付けている。第5に、関東における在日コリアンの社会史に関する調査である。6月に現地調査を実施した。このテーマの情報収集は、本務校の教育実践と連動しており、調査報告書を取りまとめる作業を継続中である。日本におけるエスニック・ビジネスの先駆者、かつディアスポラ研究の比較研究対象と位置付けている。
