项目摘要

シンガポールは、華人・マレー人・インド人・その他が共に暮らす多人種社会であると同時に、人口の80％が団地に暮らす総団地化社会でもある。①総団地化社会を実現する過程で、マレー人をはじめとするイスラム系住民の総団地化がどのように実現され非イスラム系住民と共住経験を共有してきたのか。②総団地化社会という多人種共住環境の下で、イスラム系住民が様々なせめぎ合いに直面しながらどのように非イスラム系住民との共住を実現しているのか。本研究では、以上二点について細部にこだわって明らかにするために、現地資料の収集と現地調査を中心に研究を進めている。実際に対立が表面化していない社会について、具体的な事例をもとに、現状だけでなくそれが可能となるに至った歴史的過程を踏まえて、共住する仕組みを解明する。これによって、社会学研究・エスニシティ研究の発展に寄与するほか、共住をいかに実現するのかという現代社会における課題にこたえる一助とする。以上二点のうち、①イスラム系住民の総団地化の過程については、現地資料の収集と整理・分析を中心に研究を進め、②共住の現況については、シンガポール団地での現地調査と調査結果の整理・分析をもとに研究を行っている。今年度はシンガポールへ渡航することができたが、コロナ禍の影響で、資料収集は行えたものの、行動が大きく制限され、現地調査はほとんど行えなかった。このため、資料収集のほかに、既に収集した資料及び調査結果の整理・分析と、シンガポールのイスラム教徒とマレー人に関する先行研究の収集・整理を中心に研究を進めた。とくに1960年代から1970年代にかけて、マレー人をはじめとするイスラム系住民が団地に居住するようになる総団地化の初期の過程について、資料の収集と整理・分析を重点的に行った。総団地化の最初期の過程については、論文を1本公表した。
