NAYEC（全米幼児教育協会）が高等教育機関における幼稚園教員養成課程に対して有していた”recognition”と” accreditation”の２つのプログラムの動向を要約すると、前者は2020年にCAEPの活動から離脱し、後者については、新しい基準として” the 2021 Ensuring Quality in Early Childhood Education Professional Preparation Programs: NAEYC’s Early Childhood Higher Education Accreditation Standards”への移行作業を進めており、2023年度の評価から、この基準が使用される。最新の動向を調査しながら、これまで調査期間を延期して最終年度を繰り下げてきたが、この令和5年度を最終年度とするにあたり、調査することで解決したい問いをアップデートしてきた。現在のところ、「NAEYCがCAEPの活動から離脱した理由」「実際の幼稚園教員養成課程の供給に対するアクレディテーションの普及状況」「新しいアクレディテーション基準の考え方」「他の教員養成系の基準や評価方法との相違点（ここは、ひいては他の学校種の教員と幼稚園教員との専門性の際に対する考え方が浮かび上がらせることが期待できる）」「新基準を適用した評価に対する受審校側の反応やNAEYCとしての見解」「受審校側が近年の幼稚園教員養成課程に対する評価体制の変化をどのように捉えているか」などが挙げられる。なお、州によって課程に対する認定制度が違うため、あくまでNAEYCのアクレディテーションを受けることを認定条件としている州を選択し、現地校も含めて訪問地に含める作業が残されている。
