After delays in the research due to the Covid pandemic, I conducted further research work in 2022. This included some additional desk research, and then a field trip to Oman, the UAE, and Qatar in early 2023, where I interviewed policy experts, businesspeople, and scholars to refine my ideas on state capitalism, economic reform, and development plans in these countries.I also published one book chapter based on research from the project, and wrote three more which are now in press, one to appear later in 2023 and two in 2024.
