项目摘要

本研究は、『平家物語』並びにこれと題材の共通する諸文芸（お伽草子・説話・寺社縁起・芸能・絵画等）を同時代的・通史的に突き合わせ、そこに平家滅亡の地である北部九州をはじめとする地域の祭りや伝承に関わる言説等を加えることで、平家にまつわる文芸の生成及び流布の様相を解明することが目的である。その好適な例である『平家物語』に描かれる女性説話を切り口に、平家にまつわる文芸領域の動態を解明し、その結果として中世期から近世前期における総合的な文芸領域の様相を解明することを目指している。2022年度の前半は、昨年度に引き続きCOVID-19の影響により県を跨ぐ実地踏査が行えなかった。そのため、先年行った海外調査（ニューヨーク公共図書館スペンサーコレクション）ついて研究会における発表内容の補訂を行い、海外調査が不可能である状況に多少なりとも寄与できるよう、調査の経緯と結果の情報共有化として公表した。2022年度の後半は、COVID-19にともなう種々の制限も緩和されてきたので、当初の計画を遂行すべく、北陸地方の加賀地域を中心に、『平家物語』に描かれる女性説話の一つである仏御前説話の成立と背景について、これまでCOVID-19の制限下で出来る限りの資料収集と分析を行った結果を一端整理するため、口頭発表を行った。そして、その成果をもとに、実地踏査を行った。結果、従来、藤島秀隆氏によって纏められてきた先行研究の成果をさらに前進させ、平家物語に登場する女性が、平家物語の往生譚を離れて、様々な場所で様々な往生を遂げる、種々に残された文献資料の記述の精査と実地踏査から、その成立と背景の解明に繋げることができた。以上の成果は、2023年度に成文化し公開予定である。
