本研究の目的は、1)日本の中学校、高等学校で教える英語教師の動機づけは1年間に渡ってどのような状態にあるのか、2) 教師の動機づけを変化させる要因としてはどのようなものがあるか、3) インタビューを通して見られる教師の動機づけは、実際に教師が教える英語の授業とどのような関係にあるか明らかにすることである。本研究の4年目では、学会発表、論文執筆に主に取り組んだ。特に、教師と生徒のcontact、教師が現実と理想の差をどのように経験しているかに焦点をおいた。今回の参加者の場合、明確な目標を設定している教師が多く見られたが、現実との差により、動機づけ減退へつながっているようであった。特に、自分の力では変えることができない問題と直面した場合、動機づけに大きな影響を与えているようであった。目標を設定すること、理想を思い描くことは、動機づけを高めることにつながると考えられている。しかし、文脈によっては、目標設定が動機減退につながる可能性もあるようである。よって、それぞれが肯定的な影響を得ることができるよう、目標を描くことが重要である点が示唆された。研究成果は、学会発表にて公表し、また論文執筆にも取り組み、現在投稿中である。引き続き、学会発表、論文執筆に取り組み、研究成果の公開を行っていく。また、今後の研究として、より長期的な研究を行うことで、教師がどのような経験をしているか詳細に見ていくことが重要となる。研究実施に向けて、具体的な研究計画を検討していく。
