项目摘要

本年度は、地域でのフィールド調査が制限されるなか、戦後社会教育史研究における地方社会教育史研究の可能性と課題についての考察をすすめ、それに対して北部九州産炭地の教育・文化運動研究がどのようなインパクトをもたらしうるかについて研究を進めた。研究テーマである上野英信による「筑豊文庫」の地域的意義を直接検討するには、フィールド調査も資料調査も不十分であるなかで、特に「筑豊文庫」という社会的営みが戦後日本の社会教育実践からみてどのような意味を有するのかを吟味した。日本の戦後社会教育史はこれまで予め定められた枠組みに沿って、記述・検証されてきたといえる。しかし、社会教育の未整備地域では、既存の枠組みを援用し、歴史記述を試みることが困難な場合も多い。以上を踏まえ、本年度の研究では、地方自治体独自に「社会教育という事象」に分類された教育現象があるはずであることの確認を進めつつ、地方都市の地域現実から社会教育の現実を吟味することこそが、停滞してきた地方社会教育史の研究を再び前進させることにつながるのではないかという視点を提起した。その際特に見出したのは、戦後社会教育史研究で注視された「地方社会教育史」という研究視角は、たとえ既存の枠組みに基づく歴史記述が困難なフィールドであっても社会教育の戦後史の探究を可能にし得る方法的アプローチであるという点である。なぜならば、地方を課題化する以上、地方に固有の文脈性を軽視することができないからである。本年度も含め、移動制限のなかでほとんど現地調査を実施できていないが、次年度は研究の停滞を打開すべく、丹念な資料調査とフィールドワークを進め、研究の前進に努めていきたい。
