项目摘要

近世末期から近代にかけて日本のいくつかの地域において、その地域独特の意匠をもつ庭園群がつくられた。本研究で主な対象とする出雲地方には、住宅などの座敷に面する平坦地を白砂敷きとして、短冊石という細長い長方形の切石や円形の石を飛石に用いて主景とする庭園が数多くあり、それらの意匠が現代も地域に深く根付いている。本研究では、このような地域的な特徴がどのように生まれたのかを明らかにすることを目的とする。2022（令和4）年度は前年度までの研究による成果や経験をもとにして、庭園における短冊石などの切石の使用について、江戸時代の絵図などによる情報収集、および類例となる住宅庭園の現地調査を続けた。作庭書については、前年度から引き続き、明治時代から昭和時代初期にかけて出版された書籍の文章および図版の内容を調べ、先行する書籍からの引用等を分析した。現地調査は主として書院座敷に面する庭園空間に着目し、兵庫県・和歌山県・香川県内の大規模な商家、大庄屋などの有力者の住宅につくられた庭園を対象とした。これらの調査においては、庭園の全体構成、およびとくに飛石とその周囲の関連する要素など、個々の構成要素の情報を収集した。また、現代への継承に関して、各庭園において、庭園の特徴の説明内容、周辺住民の参加などの公開活用の方法等について調査した。また、本研究の最終の成果を論文にまとめて公表するため、これまでの研究成果の整理をおこなった。
