项目摘要

冷戦初期の外交と文化実践およびマンボを中心とするアフロ＝キューバン音楽に関する先行研究のサーヴェイを行った。本研究課題が対象とする来日公演は、冷戦初期の東西イデオロギー対立や脱植民地化の動きのなかで企図されたものであり、それらを当時の人びとがポピュラー文化を通じてどのように受容し、各地域ごとのコンテクストの中で新しい文化実践へと結びついていったのかを考察した。とくに60年代から70年代にかけてのエレキギターを用いた実演を再考し、その成果を、大邱大学で開催された国際ポピュラー音楽学会（International Association for the Study of Popular Music）の第21回大会でのパネル「The Regional 1960s : Popular Music and East Asia」内の口頭発表「Fuzzy Orientalism: Exotic, Electric and Eclectic Sounds Across the Pacific」でリモート報告した。また、1950年代前半から中頃にかけて世界的な人気を博したアフロ＝キューバン音楽であるマンボに関する先行研究を整理し、ペレス・プラードのバイオグラフィや、キューバ本国および北米・中米の各都市におけるプラード受容の差異についての理解を深めた。環大西洋的なマンボの流行を描出した従来の英語圏の研究の成果をふまえて、メキシコ・シティを足がかりにアメリカ西海岸でも活躍したプラードの足跡を、その実演に着目して日本を含む環太平洋圏にまで敷衍した研究を展開するべく、同時代資料の収集と批判を進めている。この成果は、2023年度の同学会第22回大会で報告する。
