项目摘要

平成22年度の活動として、John Wesley Harding氏へのインタビューを行うとともに、平成21年度に行ったOne Ring Zeroなどへの調査と合わせて研究成果を発表する準備を進めた。またUSインディーズ音楽の日本における発表元であるレコードレーベルのMoorWorksから発表されたOne Ring Zero、The Mountain Goatsなど、高い文学性が認められるアーティストの作品の解説、歌詞の対訳を行った。さらに本研究の発展的目標である文学の「翻案」に関わる研究の成果として、映画女優ジーン・セバーグの評伝(『ジーン・セバーグ』)を出版すると同時に、本研究成果発表予定の出版社との打ち合わせ、さらに音楽業界雑誌による一般読者、音楽リスナー向けの成果発表について、音楽ライター・編集者らとの交渉を進めた。本研究では"Lit Rock"なる未だ不分明な音楽ジャンルについて文学の側から定義を試みた。その結果、文学性を抱えることで知的な雰囲気を演出するインディーズ系音楽が若者の知的欲求を満たす教養主義的ツールとして機能していること、The Decemberistsなど大衆市場でも受け入れられるバンドがインディーズ系音楽から出現していること、文学の作家とコラボレートしつつ音楽作品を作成するOne Ring Zeroなどのアーティストが存在していることなどが明らかになった。いくつかの補助的調査とその集約整理を経て、平成23年度から25年度にかけて論文や図書、また一般読者向けの雑誌などを通じ成果を発表していく予定である。
