本研究は，妊婦100人を対象とし，浮き趾（うきゆび）と不定愁訴の関連を明らかにする（本来，浮き趾であるが，以下，わかりやすく浮き指と表示する）本研究では妊娠後期の妊婦100人を対象に，腰痛などを含む不定愁訴57項目を浮き指の有無を比較し，足底・足趾の状況が不定愁訴に影響することを明らかにする。浮き指とは，足趾が地面についていない状況を指し，近年，増加傾向にある。著者の先行研究で，すでに若年女性の不定愁訴と浮き指の関連性は明らかになっている。妊婦は胎児成長，体重増加により重心偏移や靴のサイズアップ等の身体的変化が起こるが，このような変化は浮き指の要因のひとつでもある。妊婦の浮き指と不定愁訴の関連性が明らかになれば，浮き指の防止がこれらの症状の軽減につながる可能性がある。今回，調査依頼していた施設は新型コロナウイルスの状況下であり，感染症対策などの調査方法を見直さないといけない状況となった。このような改善の必要性と，調査依頼の対象施設の確保に苦慮し，調査は思うように進まなかった。
