Cogging-free magnetic clutches do not show any problems concerning tightness and therefore are very suitable especially for mixing and the transport of fluids. Examples in everyday life include milk frothers and pumps in washing machines. On the basis of abstracting theoretical considerations, i. e. a pure dipole-dipole interaction, recently a number of geometrically different magnetic single and multiple clutches were discussed, which in theory should be cogging-free without any residual ripple and thus should run very smoothly and with low losses. We would like to build real clutches according to these theoretical ideas and investigate experimentally, i) whether they work at all, ii) what the residual ripple would be and iii) how such clutches work dynamically under load.
