项目摘要

H30年度における研究の最大の成果は、フランシス・ハチスンやデイヴィッド・ヒュームなどのスミスの思想形成に影響を与えた思想家に対する詳細な分析を行ったことである。彼らの思想を把握することは、本研究の主題であるスミス思想の形成過程を把握し、彼の理論を正確に理解するために不可欠な作業である。これによって、スミスが何を課題としながら理論を構築したのかを明らかにすることが可能となった。また、「自然」概念という本研究独自の視点に関しても、ハチスンやヒュームの分析は有意義なものとなった。なぜなら、「自然」概念の使用についてもそれらの思想家からスミスはある側面を継承していると考えられるからである。そこで得られた知見をさらにスミスの『国富論』分析に適用することで、今後の研究の見通しも得られた。このように、スミス思想に関連する他の思想家を分析すること、そしてスミスの経済理論についての考察を進めること、という当初計画をしていた二つの目標について達成するに至った。確かに計画していた規模からは若干狭めざるを得ない部分はあったが、個々の思想家に対して詳細な分析を行ったことは大きな成果であった。これによって先行研究を批判的に検討する十分な根拠を見出すことが出来た。また、当初の見立てとは異なる有意義な発見をすることも出来たため、計画を改めながら研究を進めた。今後の研究において、H30年度の研究成果を論文などの明確な形で提出することで、貢献をしていきたい。
