本年度は研究計画に則り、アガンベンの政治思想のアクチュアリティを精査するにあたってマルティン・ハイデガーやハンナ・アーレントといった思想家らとの比較検討を行った。「ジョルジョ・アガンベンの政治的存在論」においては、アガンベンの思想がハイデガーの西洋形而上学批判においての展開を前提として彫琢されているという点から出発し、ハイデガーの規範的含意を前提にアガンベンの政治哲学の行為への可能性を明らかにした。ハイデガーは一九三〇年代半ばまでにポリス、政治的共同体に現存在に対する優越を看守していた姿勢から、とりわけ『哲学への寄与』以降そうした構想から距離をとり、存在の生-起の到来を待ち望む放下を提唱することになる。アガンベンはハイデガーと共に/抗して政治を思索するが、ハイデガーへの取り組みの中で自身の政治的行為の可能性を模索する。「ジョルジョ・アガンベンにおける無為と行為-アーレントとの比較を中心に」においては、アーレントの議論を背景にアガンベンの議論が有する規範的側面に着目した。『全体主義の起源』において透徹した全体主義の分析を行い、毀誉褒貶相半ばしながら全体主義をめぐる言説における基礎を成したアーレントであるが、『人間の条件』における複数性の政治というヴィジョンは全体主義以降の政治において重要なオルタナティブとなった。アガンベンはアーレントの全体主義分析に影響を受け、基本的な枠組みを踏襲しつつ、独自の見解を展開する。アーレントは、西洋がプラトン以降観想的生を活動的生に優越させ続けてきたという傾向を指摘し、人間の活動を再考することを通じて全体主義以降の政治の可能性を模索する。しかしアガンベンはアーレントの活動優位の政治の構想に、人間の生を補足し排除する生政治の働きを看守することを通じて、特定の行為ではなく人間が有するしないでいられることという潜勢力に依拠する政治を構想する。
