Firstly, I was the lead author on a publication in which the chromosome-scale genome of the anemonefish Amphiprion clarkii was sequenced, bioinformatically assembled and analyzed. The project produced a high-quality genomic resource that will be used for research at OIST and other research groups around the world. These results were published in G3: Genes | Genomes | Genetics.I completed an experiment that investigated the impact of ocean warming on larval development of clownfish. This involved conducting an aquaria-based study in which larvae were exposed to different temperature regimes, and their response recorded. I found that larvae grow and develop much faster, display elevated metabolic rates and have many genes differentially expressed at higher temperatures. The result of this experiment and subsequent bioinformatic analyses were published in the journal Science of the Total Environment. Furthermore, I am currently finalizing the second manuscript from this experiment, in which the tissue-specific molecular response of these larvae was assessed with RNA-sequencing. This paper will be submitted to the journal Science of the Total Environment in April 2023.Following up on the larval experiment I completed an experiment investigating the impact of marine heatwaves on juvenile clownfish. This 4-month long experiment has been completed, with metabolic measurements and sampling for RNA-sequencing conducted. Genomic data has now been received and is awaiting bioinformatic analyses, which will be completed in May 2023, before publication of these results in July 2023.
