Facade Design of Shop-houses in Historical Tourist Cities in Asia

店屋是亚洲的传统建筑，通常在底层有一个商店，在商店上面有住宅。本研究对马六甲地区的店铺外立面色彩进行了实地调查，并对马六甲和京都町屋的店铺外立面色彩进行了比较研究。通过实地调查发现，京都町屋立面多采用低饱和度的色彩，马六甲的店铺立面设计在各个时代都有所不同，在英国殖民地后期则采用了多种色彩。根据主观评价实验，对几家有特色的町屋咖啡馆立面的“地域性”、“偏好性”和“适宜性”评价存在差异。

Shop-houses are traditional buildings in Asia, commonly with a shop on the ground floor and residence above the shop. In this study, we conducted the field survey on the facade color of shop-houses in Malacca, and discussed the facade color of shop-houses in Malacca and Machiya in Kyoto comparatively. And, we focused on the effect of the subjective's regionality on the evaluation for Machiya-cafe facade.According to the field survey, low saturated colors were used on Machiya facade in Kyoto, and that facade design of shop-houses in Malacca was different in each era, and many colors were used in the late era of England colony. It was also shown that facade of some shop-houses were repainted in vivid color, and these facade might detract the landscape in Malacca.According to the subjective evaluation experiments, there are differences in the evaluation of "Regionality", "Preference" and "Appropriateness" on some characteristic Machiya-cafe facade.
