项目摘要

本研究では、犬歯歯髄腔の狭窄度合を年齢指標とした新しい手法を用いて、縄文時代や弥生時代の人々の寿命（主に成人後の余命）を男女別に推定することを最終目標としている。推定の精度を上げ、かつ時代や地域ごとの変化に至るまでを考察対象とするためには、できるだけ多くの標本をできるだけ多くの遺跡から抽出しなければならない。昨年度から進めている縄文・弥生時代遺跡についての文献調査をひきつづき行い、それぞれの遺跡の年代と人骨の出土状況、並びに現在の人骨保管状況を調べた。また、東京大学総合研究博物館に収蔵されている関東地方の弥生時代人骨標本群から下顎犬歯を選定し、CT撮影を行った。3次元解析用ソフトウェアを用いて、画像情報をセグメント化し年齢指標となる歯髄腔や歯根の体積を計測するための前処理作業を現在も進めている。同標本群においては犬歯を含めた下顎骨全体の残存状況、抜歯行為の有無、鎖骨内側端の癒合状況や寛骨の残存状況など、下顎犬歯から得られる情報に付け加えるべき関連情報を収集した。下顎犬歯の計測値から集団の平均余命を導くプログラムについては、前年度開発した犬歯のサイズから性別の事後確率を導く手法を組み込み、男女別の余命を導くプログラムへと改良するべく、準備を進めた。さらには、下顎犬歯以外の付加的情報を計算プログラムに取り込み、平均余命や推定生存曲線をより精密に推定できるよう、プログラムの改良に取り組んだ。
