一般的に、下肢閉塞性動脈硬化症を合併する患者は冠動脈疾患のみを抱える患者に比べてより重篤な背景因子を持ち、また重篤な患者群であることはよく知られている。一方で、冠動脈疾患に関しては健康診断などで施行される心電図検査などのスクリーニング検査で早期発見されることが多々あるが、下肢閉塞性動脈硬化症のスクリーニング検査であるABI検査などは健康診断などでは基本的に組み込まれていないため、潜在性な下肢閉塞性動脈硬化症を診断することは極めて重要である。本研究においては、心不全を始めとする循環器疾患に対して心臓のBMIPP撮影を行って精査を施行した後、下肢にも同様に撮影を行うことで、下肢閉塞性動脈硬化症における脂肪酸代謝異常を明らかにし、あらたな下肢閉塞性動脈硬化症の診断方法を確立することを目的としている。当該年度においては、引き続き、患者のリクルートを行うとともに、患者基本情報、ABI、採血データ、下肢エコーデータを始めとした患者データのまとめおよび解析を開始している。これらのデータ解析を行うことで下肢閉塞性動脈硬化症を合併する患者群と合併していない群における基本的な違いを明らかにするとともに、BMIPPにおける相違もデータとして明白になることを期待している。これらの結果に関しては、本研究における基本となるデータであるが、今までにない新しい研究結果であるため、極めて重要な意味を持つことになると考えている。
