本研究は、ラオス北部の中国企業の投資によるバナナ農園への出稼ぎ労働をめぐって、海外農業投資が小規模農民の暮らしに与える変化をジェンダーの視点から明らかにすることを目的とするものである。海外農業投資が急激に拡大する「グローバル・サウス」の農村社会の展望を見通す上で、出稼ぎ労働が女性や家庭内・村落内のジェンダー関係に与える影響を明らかにし、ラオスにおける農業投資の政策的課題を提言することを目指している。2022年度は、8月にラオスを訪問し、調査体制の再構築を行った上で、ウドムサイ県において5日間のフィールド調査を行なった。パクベン郡G村のバナナ農園への出稼ぎ経験がある11家族への半構造化インタビュー、フン郡S村のバナナ農園における非構造化インタビューを行なった。村との往来が比較的容易で、家族の帯同が可能な近隣の郡のバナナ農園への出稼ぎは、山岳部の小規模農民にとって参入障壁の小さい現金収入源となっている。一方、児童労働の敷居が低く、幼児やその世話をする祖父母などの高齢者も農薬による健康被害のリスクに晒されており、農園の労働者キャンプで日常化している麻薬の蔓延も出稼ぎ労働者の家族に深刻な負の影響を与えている。また、出稼ぎ労働の担い手が、比較的体力のある学齢期を終えた10代・20代に移っていき、健康被害のリスクの高い年契約の労働者は、より遠隔地の村から雇用されるようになっていく傾向が見られた。これらの成果は、東南アジア学会の研究大会（12月10日）において「ラオスの国内労働移動が小規模農民の暮らしに与える影響ー中国投資のバナナ農園への出稼ぎ労働者家族の事例から－」と題し報告した。また、日本アフリカ学会中四国支部主催のシンポジウム（3月25日）では、「東南アジア地域研究農村社会学からのアプローチーーラオスとタイの農村から考える『グローバル・サウス』」と題する報告を行った。
