项目摘要

本年度は主に薬師仏経典の研究を行い、今後比較を予定している阿弥陀仏経典の分析に一部着手した。以下、二項に分けて報告する。まず薬師仏経典にかんして、最古の薬師経とされる『抜除過罪生死得度経』（大正 No. 1331）の訳注研究を公開した。さらに、諸本対照と分析により、この経典に聞名思想が付加されていく過程を明らかにし、その背景に考えられる思想的変遷についての一見解を提示した。聞名思想が付加された結果、年代の新しい資料では、聞名により薬師仏の功徳を享受するという構造が成立している。しかし、それらの資料で「仏の名を聞く」とある部分は、より古い資料と対照することによって、本来は「経を聞く」と説かれていたことが知られるのであり、聞く内容が経から仏名へと変化していることがわかる。このことから、薬師経の発達過程において、経巻信仰から仏名信仰への思想的変遷があったと推定した。そして、その変遷が起こった具体的な年代として、諸漢訳の訳出年代を手掛かりに、5世紀から7世紀のあいだを想定した。次に阿弥陀仏経典にかんして、『悲華経』サンスクリット原典からの訳注研究を、五島清隆、吹田隆道、壬生泰紀らと共同作業のもと公開した。今回公開したのは第4章のアラネーミン王の誓願から授記が説かれる範囲であり、先行訳としては岩本裕の抄訳が存在しているが、我々が公開した訳注研究では、原典の批判的校訂が行われ、より原典に忠実な訳となっており、願数など先行訳とは異なる理解が示されている。この経典では、アラネーミン王こそが後に阿弥陀仏となる人物であり、その誓願は阿弥陀仏の本願に他ならない。その本願については既に多くの研究成果が残されているが、聞名思想の観点からこれを見直し、上述した薬師経の発達史と関連させて考えることにより、新たな視点からの研究成果が期待される。今回公開した『悲華経』の訳注研究はその研究資料のひとつとなる。
