项目摘要

2022（令和4）年度は本研究の初年度にあたるため、研究の土台となる資料調査と分析を行い、論文執筆のための準備に従事した。第一に、東京地学協会の全会員（社員）とその入退会の実態を詳細に調べ上げ、同会の人的な全体像を把握した。明治期から昭和戦前期にいたる全会員を調査することで、政治機能としての学会からアカデミズム化への道を歩んだ過程が展望できている。第二に、明治期の陸海軍軍人が地学協会会員の3割ほどを占めているため、明治期における軍人による学会運営の実態について分析し、論文としてまとめている。第三に、19世紀半ばから世界各国・各都市で設立された地理学協会（geographical society）の各機関誌を調査し、世界規模で地理学的な「発見」への実践を支えていた地理学知・地理情報の学術ネットワーク（学知・情報の相互交換体制）の解明に努めた。2022年度も昨年から続く新型コロナ流行の影響を被っていたが、被るであろうことは予想できていたため、遠方への史料調査等には従事せず、研究拠点から近隣にあたる公共図書館、史料館、大学研究機関等での調査・分析とに専念した。特に、首都圏域にある国立国会図書館、早稲田大学図書館等で頻繁に資料調査を行った。その結果、上記したように本研究を遂行していく上での基部となる地学協会の全会員を把握する地道な作業と分析が、おおむね完成をみている。その意味からも、本研究の基礎を築いた一年間といえる。

The results of this study were recorded and analyzed by all members of the Geological Association. The foundation of this study was built in one year.
