项目摘要

当該年度は、まず分析に向けて第二中間期に年代付けられる各種資料を集成した。特に、リシ棺と呼ばれる当該期に特徴的な人型棺を集めた先行研究をもとに、本研究で対象とする装身具に焦点を当て整理した。さらに、海外の博物館での実見調査も実施した。また、これまで研究を進めてきた中王国時代の様相を一層詳細に検討し直し、第二中間期のリシ棺や一部考古資料との比較をおこなった。具体的には、中王国時代初期から体系化された装身具を被葬者に捧げる儀礼について、棺装飾（＝オブジェクト・フリーズ）と実際の考古資料をもとに儀礼に用いられる装身具の変遷を追った。その結果、中王国時代前期には地方で局地的に取り入れられていた装身具が中王国時代末に中心地の墓で見られるようになり、さらにそれが第二中間期には主要な装身具になることが判明した。つまり、中王国時代前期に地方で局地的に実践され姿を消した儀礼が中王国時代末に北部エジプトの中心地で再度行為化され、それが第二中間期の南部エジプトへ継承されるという流れである。その背景として、地方の中部エジプト以南ですでに価値が認められていた儀礼を中王国時代末に王族など上層が取り入れることで、今後の支配で重要になる南部を内的に取り込もうとした可能性を考えた。そしてそれが第二中間期には一層確立されていったと推測される。第二中間期の儀礼や埋葬習慣は、中王国時代の中心地（＝北部）の伝統と第二中間期の中心である南部の伝統が融合していると言われてきたが、そのなかで中王国時代の伝統とは典型的なものだけでなく、かつて地方でのみ取り入れられていた要素が強く見られる点を指摘したことは、中王国時代から第二中間期の展開を復元するうえで重要である。
