本課題の目的は、代表的な屋外療育の一つである園芸作業が発達障害児にもたらす生理的リラックス効果を明らかにすることである。令和4年度においては、健常者を対象に実施したバラ生花の視覚刺激実験データを基に、個人差の観点から再解析を行い、バラ生花がもたらす「生体調整効果」を明らかにした。自然がもたらす生理的リラックス効果には個人差があることが知られており、森林浴に関する先行研究では、元々の血圧が高い人は低下し、血圧が低い人は上昇するという「生体調整効果」が報告されている。令和4年度においては、バラ生花の視覚刺激が交感神経活動に及ぼす影響に関して、初期値の法則に基づいて「生体調整効果」を調べた。高校生、オフィスワーカー、医療従事者、高齢者の合計214名の健常者を対象に実施した被験者内実験データを基に、初期値の法則の観点から整理した。視覚刺激は、花瓶に生けられた匂いのないバラ生花による4分間の観察とし、対照条件は、バラ生花なしとした。交感神経活動の指標は、心拍変動性による低周波成分と高周波成分の比（LF/HF）とし、自然対数値に変換することで正規化した。初期値は、対照条件時のln(LF/HF)値、変化分はバラ生花視覚刺激時のln(LF/HF)から対照条件時のln(LF/HF)を差し引いた値とし、両者の相関関係をピアソンの積率相関検定にて分析した。その結果、初期値と変化分の間に有意な負の相関が認められた (r = －.544, p < .001)。つまり、初期値において交感神経活動が高かった被験者は、バラ生花の視覚刺激によって値が低下し、反対に初期値が低かった被験者は増加することが分かった。本研究の成果は、次年度以降実施する発達障害児を対象とした被験者実験にて得られるデータを解釈する上で重要であるとともに、現代人のWell-being促進と維持に貢献することが期待される。
