本研究の目的は、１）既存の治療に抵抗性な尋常性乾癬患者における IL36RN 遺伝子の機能喪失型変異を検索すること、２）好中球遊走能を抑制する、Cathepsin G inhibitor を Il36rn-/- マウスに投与し、乾癬様皮疹が抑制されるかを検証することである。IL36RN遺伝子変異の機能喪失型変異では、種々の動物実験の結果から様々な炎症性皮膚疾患に関わっている可能性が示唆される。尋常性乾癬におけるIL36RN遺伝子変異の関わりを明らかにすることで、本疾患の重症例における全く新しい観点からの病態解明および治療法開発への展開が期待される。
