ゴール型球技は、12-15歳頃からの専門化が推奨されている後期専門化スポーツに分類される。しかし、日本では小学生年代での勝利至上主義、すなわち早期専門化が問題視されている。その解決策として、小学生年代では長期的な視野に立った「個の育成」が目指されているが明確な定義はない。そのため、 指導者は各々が持つ独自の考えを基に選手を育成しており、育成活動に大きな変化はないのが現状である。本研究者は、これまでに日本およびドイツの取り組みを事例的に明らかにしている。今後、日独とは異なる方法で選手を育成している国外の取り組みを対象に「個の育成」について調査することは、これまでとは異なる側面から「個の育成」を捉え、既存の説明の枠組みでは通用しない考え方の理解へと繋がり、現場の指導者に役立つ知見が得られると考える。令和4年度は、韓国の小学生ハンドボールコーチを対象に、「個の育成」についてインタビュー調査を実施した。また、そのコーチが指導しているチームの練習および公式戦を視察することによって、育成の方針とその成果としてのゲームパフォーマンスを調査した。「個の育成」における目標像となるような世界トップレベルの選手（韓国、ノルウェー、ロシアそれぞれ1名）のプレーについては、記述的ゲームパフォーマンス分析を用いて明らかにした。この研究成果については、国際学会において口頭発表した。「個の育成」に影響を及ぼすと考えられる指導環境については、暴力・ハラスメントなどの不適切なスポーツ指導根絶へ向けた実態調査を行った。競技環境については、小・中学校期における大会使用球の大きさ・質量・材質の変更による影響を全国大会の記述的ゲームパフォーマンス分析および中学生に対するアンケート調査によって明らかにした。これらの研究成果については、国内・国際学会において口頭発表し（6件）、査読付き論文（2件）が採択された。
