本研究の目的は、スポーツ指導者のサーバント（支援型）リーダーシップ及びハームフル（有害型）リーダーシップが選手の自律的な行動（リーダーシップ）に及ぼす影響を縦断的に明らかにすることであった。今年度は、スポーツ指導者のサーバントリーダーシップと選手のサービング行動との関連を探った。具体的にこれまで先行研究では、社会的学習理論に基づき、サーバントリーダーのフォロワーが自らのサービング行動を示すとき、これはサーバントリーダーから学び、模倣した結果であると説明されてきた。本研究は、この現象をリーダーからの学習と模倣で十分に説明できるかどうかを問うものである。自己決定理論と拡大構築理論を統合したポジティブ機能のマクロ理論に基づき、選手は指導者を模倣するだけでなく、指導者のサーバントリーダーシップによって内発的動機づけとポジティブ感情が高まり、それがチームメイトへのサービング行動につながると主張する。日本の大学運動部に所属する選手600名を対象に、オンライン調査によりデータを収集した。構造方程式モデリングにより、コーチングサーバントリーダーシップが内発的動機づけとポジティブ感情を通じて選手のサービング行動に及ぼす影響を検討した。内発的動機づけとポジティブ感情は、コーチングサーバントリーダーシップと選手のサービング行動との関連を媒介することがわかった。本研究結果は、ポジティブ機能のマクロ理論に基づき、コーチ（リーダー）のサーバントリーダーシップから選手（フォロワー）のサービング行動への新たな経路を示し、サーバントリーダーシップの文献の発展に大きく寄与すると考えられる。
