项目摘要

本研究の目的は、18世紀フランスにおける教育の変容を、当時の最も主要な学校であったコレージュcolle'geを対象として、思想と実体の両面から全体的に捉えて考察することであった。(コレージュは今日の中等教育機関に相当する。)平成11年度は、以下の3つの作業を中心に研究を進めた。1.シャルル・ロランCharles Rollin(1661-1741)『学習論』Traite' des e'tudes(1726-28)の翻訳・検討2.『学習論』がもった影響力の解明3.フランス18世紀後半における教育改革の実態の解明これらの作業から明らかにされた点と、前年度に報告した内容を総合するならば、本研究の成果とそれに基づく新たな仮説は次の3点に要約できる。1.ロランの『学習論』は、教育の原理とコレージュでの教育を論じた著作である。前者については、人間形成の課題が幼児期から、また、女子も対象に含めて論じられている。後者に関しては、教育内容および方法の改善が、中世以来の伝統に立ちつつ学問の進展を積極的に摂取する姿勢で提起されている。2.18世紀後半のコレージュ教師クレヴィエや、学校制度改革を推進した官僚ロラン・デルスヴィルなどの著作には、シャルル・ロランの『学習論』が基本文献として影響を与えていた事実が確認できる。3.以上から、18世紀を通じたコレージュ教育の変容について、世紀前半にシャルル・ロランが行った理論上の集大成が、1760年代以降の改革動向の中で徐々に現実化され、それはさらに19世紀以降のブルジョアあるいはエリート層における学校教育と結び付いた教養を形成していった、という仮説が導き出される。
