本研究は、「東国」地域の古代を解明する上で、同地域の、律令国家による東北経営政策(柵戸等の配置による植民政策、及び蝦夷の征討ならびに俘囚の内国への移配)を進める際の前線基地としての位置づけを重視する立場から、まず東北諸県内に存在する城・柵・官衙等の遺跡の出土品中にみられる木簡・墨書土器等の文字資料を網羅的に収集して一覧表化し、それらと「六国史」・法制資料(『類聚三代格』など)等の編纂物との突き合わせ、関連付けの検討を行うことを通して、東北経営策において「東国」の果たしていた役割を考察しようとするものである。今年度は、昨年度に継続して関係史料のデータベース構築の作業を行った。具体的な方法としては、すでに調査報告書の刊行がなされている部分についてはそれを転記する形をとり、それ以外については現地での資料の保管機関のうちのいくつかを訪問して実地調査を行った。なお、デ一タベースソフトは管理工学研究所の桐Ver.7を使用している。データベース自体は、さらに内容を充実するために今後も資料の収集・データ入力の作業を継続する予定であるが、データ収集の過程で得た知見をまとめた論文「出羽国府の移転に関する一考察」を学術雑誌に投稿済みであり、近く刊行される予定とならている。
