本研究ではまず日本の果実市場における社会的効用関数の推定を行う。そのために日本の果実市場を主要な財にて定義し、さらに細かい分類が必要な財については高級品と日常的に消費されている財とに再分類して定義する。そして、それらの財の詳細な価格及び消費量のデータセットを作成する。価格データについては国内価格・国際価格の両方のデータセットを作成する。また、消費量のデータについては国内産と輸入品とを区別してデータセットを作成する。これらのデータは原データを月次データとし、さらにそれを必要に応じて四半期データ・年次データに変換して用いる。果実については季節によって出回る財が異なるため、場合によっては季節毎に分けて効用関数の推定を行う。本年度は昨年度に収集したデータに基づいて社会的効用関数の推定を行っている。効用関数のパラメータの推定には、誤差項の影響を極力小さくするために支出割合の需要関数を用い、推定方法には非線形2段階最小自乗法を用いている。このようにして推定された効用関数を用いて、それに基づいた消費者の厚生損失の計測を行っている。そのためにここでは非関税障壁のもとでの効用水準と、輸入自由化による効用水準をシミュレーションし、その差として定義される厚生損失を計測する。さらに本研究では、国内価格と国際価格の乖離(内外価格差)をモデルにおいて分析している。また、国内産と輸入財とを完全代替財と仮定し、輸入自由化による各財の消費量の変化についても分析を行っている。様々な分析を行っているが、消費者の選好の変化による財の消費や生産のパターンの変化や集計基準の変更、データの不備等の問題があり、モデルを推定する際には克服すべき問題点が数多く存在している。
