项目摘要

① 星空を描いたゴッホの絵画作品「ローヌ川の星月夜」(1888年、オルセー美術館蔵)や「星月夜」(1889年、ニューヨーク近代美術館蔵)を星の日周運動や月の満ち欠けに関する教材として活用するため、2015年9月29日～10月7日、これらの絵画が描かれた南フランスのアルルおよびサン=レミ=ド=プロヴァンスを訪問した。現地調査の結果概要は以下のとおりである。・「ローヌ川の星月夜」は南西を中心として約80°の範囲が描かれていること・地上の風景は誇張や見た目の印象ではなく正確に描かれていること・申請者の自説である「秋の大びしゃく」は、「ローヌ川の星月夜」の画角に対して大きすぎること・ローヌ川の上にきた北斗七星の星の色は赤み(バラ色)を帯びて見えることがあること・「星月夜」を描いたとされるサン=レミの療養院のゴッホのアトリエは公開されていないこと・療養院のアトリエの窓は西向きであることこれらは、現地に行って、実際に観察して初めて確認できたことであった。② 小学校5・6年生を対象として「ローヌ川の星月夜」を題材に、星の日周運動の観察・考察を行うプラネタリウム投影を行った。・「ローヌ川の星月夜」には北斗七星が描かれている、と言われているが、方角が違うこと・日周運動をしても北斗七星が南西方向にくることはないこと・星の色や明るさの表現が絵と実際の北斗七星と違うこと・北斗七星の他にも「ひしゃく」の形をした星の並びがあることをプラネタリウムで観察した上で、「ローヌ川の星月夜」に描かれた星について、自由に発想・発表させた。方角、形、色、明るさ等、いろいろな情報から描かれた星を同定(推測)できることを体験する貴重な機会を提供できた。
