一斉授業に知識構成型ジグソー法と、生徒が質問生成して課題設定し既習知識から未知の知識へのつなげる質問型の2つの方法による4人グループの協働学習を取り入れ実践した。ジグソー法では課題をさらに4テーマごとに分担し、質問型では疑問をマッピングし協働学習と教師の介入で一定の質問文の形式で表現したのち、課題を明確にしてジグソー法へ転換するか、生徒の対話を促進する一斉授業へと転換し対話を促進した。学習課題は大単元のうちの1時間から3時間程度で終結するものとなった。協働学習を志向する各公立中学校の複数教師により独自に実践され、実践前・中・後に討議・修正した。授業の重点に、学び方の習得し人生や社会に学びを生かそうとする能動性を生徒が獲得し、学ぶ意味を見つけ思考・表現によって社会認識を深めることをおいた。予め効果的とされる方法が、社会科教育の領域、及び教育心理学・学習科学等学びに関する周辺領域、さらに協働学習の特性の領域から選択された。それぞれ、概念的知識の獲得と社会認識を深めること、知識の関連性と事象の意味や理由づけなど深い理解につながる学びの手続きがあること、選択性・多様性・多声性があること、の3つが相互作用し誘発される学習課題を検討し実践した。以上の方法により公民「日本の現代社会の課題とその解決」、「経済・お金の持つ意味～フィナンシャル教育」、歴史・地理「人類誕生はどこからはじまったか? 」、地理「なぜ中国の沿岸部に人口が集中するのか」、歴史「日露戦争は意味ある戦争だったか」、「聖徳太子の政治のめざしたもの」「なぜ丹後地方に大きな古墳が集中するのか」「平城京の木簡～福知山から運ばれたものからわかること」が開発された。評価シートは既存のものを利用した。今後さらに学習課題が精緻化され、教師の発話形式や談話の質を高めることが課題である。
