研究目的 : 論理的思考力の育成と表現力の育成重視を打ち出した昭和52年改訂小学校学習指導要領以降の小学校国語科教科書の説明的文章について、理科系分野に題材をとった文章教材にみられる話題の変遷、文章構成の特徴、教育実践の実際を調査する。研究方法 : 1、昭和52年改訂から平成20年改訂に至る小学校学習指導要領下の国語科教科書について理科的な題材の文章教材を収集する。2、取り上げられている題材(話題)と文章構造の特徴、学習の手引きに示されている学習活動例を整理・分析する。3、教員経験者及び現職教員に聞き取り調査を行い、教室で実際に展開された実践について実態を解明する。研究成果 : 理科系分野に題材をとった説明文教材については、特に高学年において考古学的な話題・地球史的な話題(例えば化石、大陸移動)から自然環境の保護を意識させる話題・防災を意識させる話題へと、実生活に即した話題を指向する話題の変化がみられた。文章構造については、話題に沿って割合自由な展開であった構造から「はじめ・なか・おわり」の展開を習得させるための構造へと指向の変化がみられた。この点については学習の手引きに示されている学習活動例についても同様の傾向であった。教員経験者及び現職教員に対して行った聞き取り調査では、各教員による実践上の多様な取り組み・工夫に関する情報を得ることができたが、学習の目標を明示する単元を作成し目標に則って学習指導を行う実践が、特に平成20年の小学校学習指導要領改訂以降明確に意識されるようになったことが確認された。取り上げられている話題によって学習者の興味・関心を惹起し学習活動を成立させる授業から、学習の結果何ができるようになるか、どのような力がついたかを重視して学習活動を成立させる授業へと学習指導上の変化があったとみることができる。
